Today on the MMV Blog, we’re celebrating one of the most popular events on a Disney Cruise...Pirate Night!
What is Pirate Night? On select Caribbean itineraries, you can eat, dance and be merry at a very fun pirate themed evening. Every aspect of the ship takes on a pirate theme! Here’s what you can expect:
A unique, magical and super fun evening for everyone in your sailing party!
Your stateroom host will leave a Mickey Mouse party bandanna and some chocolate gold coins for everyone.
Dinner in the main dining rooms feature servers dressed like pirates who greet you with “Ahoy Matey!” Once you’re seated, you’ll find a dinner menu that looks like an old treasure map where you can make your choice--or choices!--from Disney Cruise Line’s super yummy dinner selections.
It is truly a pirate’s life on this night of your sailing. You can enjoy trivia, games and the popular meet-and-greets with characters dressed in the pirate finery. You’re sure to capture some fun family photos on this special night.
The onboard Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique features special pirate makeovers. Sign up for these as soon as you can--your MMV agent will advise you. Costumes, t-shirts and other pirate gear are available in the onboard shops too. But, many guests bring their own costumes from home and dress up for the evening. Others just don the bandanna they receive in their stateroom and keep it simple. No matter how you dress, this is a magical evening onboard your Disney cruise.
Up on the Pool Deck, you can dance off your dinner with your favorite Disney characters at the “Pirates in the Caribbean” Deck Party. You’ll see a fun, live pirate show and play interactive games too.
There’s a full, pirate-themed buffet available too...in case you still have room after dinner!
And for the ultimate celebration...during the show you’ll see a fantastic fireworks display! That’s right--fireworks at sea! Disney Cruise Line was the first to offer this, and it is everyone’s favorite. It is really amazing to see them shoot off from the ship into the Caribbean sky. See our agent photos and video below! (Note that the fireworks show is weather-permitting and can be postponed or canceled due to weather conditions).

We loved dressing up in our best pirate gear for pirate night. That afternoon most of the characters on board were dressed as pirates and we had a great time taking photos and getting autographs. Jack Sparrow was extremely entertaining. After dinner we enjoyed a great stage show out on the Pool Deck followed by fireworks! Yo Ho Yo Ho, a Pirate”s life for my family.

Pirate night is so much fun!! With 4 boys it’s definitely a highlight for any cruise! The fireworks are the best part!

On our first-ever Disney Cruise, we purchased a pirate makeover and a Jack Sparrow costume that we were able to reuse a few months later at Walt Disney World for Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party. On our second sailing, I brought my own costume--and we were able to still book a pirate makeover and just do the makeup portion. Nothing gets you in the mood for pirate night like a makeover!
Pirate night is always capped off with fireworks at sea, bright and beautiful. However, getting invited up on stage made it a truly unforgettable night!

MMV Tip: We enjoy bringing temporary pirate tattoos which my son loves
to pixie dust to other kids onboard. And sometimes, we bring other pirate props
to share with others. On our last cruise, we shared some of our pirate gear
with our newly minted friends, our dinner tablemates, and the four of us were
invited on stage to perform during the pirate stage show!

Not sure you want to get dressed up like a pirate? Not to worry! You can keep it simple, by just donning a bandanna. Or you can select clothing that has a pirate feel to it but isn’t actually costume.

20% of the cruise fare. And, book with confidence--if you need to, for most bookings,
you can cancel your cruise and you can get a refund of your deposit up until your
final payment date. This date varies by cruise, but in general is about 90 days prior
