Mexico: A Destination for All Ages

By Diana Edwards, Magical Moments Vacations Agent; Master Agent with AMResorts

I recently traveled to Mexico to not only have a little rest and relaxation but also to visit and learn more about several resorts in the AMResorts family. During my 5-day trip, I visited 11 resorts and spent some time at the Xel Ha park.

While Mexico is one of the few destinations that does not require any COVID19 testing, I found safety protocols in place throughout the airport, transportation, and resorts. Your temperature is taken upon disembarking your plane. Masks are required in the airport and while riding with AmStar transportation to your resort.

My home resort for this trip was Now Sapphire Riviera Cancun, a resort in the AMResorts family.

AMResorts is a collection of luxury resort destinations, each with its own unique personality. Raising all-inclusive to a New Level of Luxury®, every one of their resorts features Endless Privileges®, Unlimited-Luxury® or Unlimited-Fun®, that offers sun-soaked beaches, elegant accommodations, a world-class spa, gourmet dining, unlimited premium drinks, and many other pampering amenities.

Arriving at the resort, I was greeted and my luggage was taken by bell services where it was sanitized before being delivered to my room. Check-in was easy and efficient. All employees were wearing masks, but guests were not required to wear them. Since the resorts are on a mandated 30 percent maximum capacity, physical distancing was an easy task for resort guests.

AMResorts are held to a specific quality standard, so all the resorts were well kept. We were warmly welcomed into every property.

The beautiful blue water and clean sand beaches set the backdrop for many of the pools and restaurants at the resorts.

We visited a variety of resorts ranging from family-friendly to adults only with very quiet, spa-like atmospheres to 24-hour fun and party resorts. Every resort provided daytime and nighttime activities to keep you as busy as you would like to be.

Even the resorts that had a party vibe provided plenty of space for rest and relaxation. From poolside and oceanside cabanas, Bali beds, and hammocks to lounge chairs with umbrellas, you could relax in the warm sun or cool off in the shade.

Service provided throughout the resorts and at the pools and beaches was second to none. Floating in the pool, or relaxing by the pool or beach usually included food and drink service.

Most family-friendly resorts provide kids and teens clubs where activities keep the kids busy from mid-morning to late afternoon. These clubs even provide lunch during the day.

On my trip, I visited all of these resorts:

Family-Friendly resorts: Adults-Only resorts:

Dreams Vista Cancun Iberostar Cancun, Coral

RIU Dunamar Level

Grand Palladium Costa Mujeres El Dorado Royale

Now Sapphire Riviera Cancun TRS Coral

Now Jade Riviera Barcelo Maya Riviera

Royalton Riviera Cancun Breathless Riviera Cancun

Fiesta Americana Condesa

Here’s a photo tour of some of these resorts, to give you an idea of the variety of accommodations, natural beauty, and activities available for your vacation in Mexico.

Two highlights of my trip were our home resort, the Now Sapphire Riviera Cancun and the Xel Ha park.

Now Sapphire is a family-friendly resort with a kids’ water park, water slides for “kids” of all ages, a pool bar, and a preferred club quiet pool. The service at the resort began at check-in and followed through check-out.

Dining locations were limited during this trip due to government-mandated low occupancy, but they rotated the available cuisine from night to night. For our first night’s stay, we were treated to a meal at Cibu, the Mediterranean Cuisine restaurant. The meal was delicious and included a flaming dessert drink and a dessert pepper (yes, the chef used a pepper to create a delicious dessert).

My favorite drink of this trip was some yummy lemonade at the TRS Coral Resort.

On the last day of our touring, we visited the Xel Ha park. This is an expansive park which requires a full day to truly enjoy all that is available.

The admission price is all-inclusive (there were a few activities that required an extra fee, i.e. the dolphin swim encounter). From a lazy river (not your average man-made concrete circle), to cliff jumping, zip lining, snorkeling, a 98.5-foot water slide, and authentic Mexican cuisine, you can spend your day immersed in activities or choose to relax in one of their beach chairs or hammocks. There are activities for everyone one, of every activity level and every age.

Mexico is a great place to visit! I had a wonderful time visiting all the resorts included in my itinerary. There truly is something for everyone in this magical destination!
